Costa Cruises reached a milestone this year,
celebrating 60 years afloat, and to mark this special occasion we broke the record for the longest line of pizza. As part of the Viva Leichhardt Festival, Norton Street was transformed into a giant table on June 8 where 826 pizzas were lined up to break the world record to 221m – the length of our cruise ship,
Costa Classica, which will be based in the Asia Pacific from May 2009.
Costa’s 60th Anniversary event was a great family fun day with street entertainment, children’s activities and the chance to win a Costa Cruise. Community members were also invited to play their part in the attempt by helping make the pizzas on the day.
Twenty-five Sydney chefs headed the pizza-making challenge, which used more than 500 kilograms of flour, 250 litres of tomato sauce and 350 kilograms of mozzarella cheese.
