| | | Whether you’re a first-time cruiser with Costa or one of our regular customers, here are some general details and basic tips to help you get the most out of your holiday and enjoy “Cruising Italian Style” for which we are renowned.
Cabin Fares The difference in price between the various cabin grades is determined by the location of the cabin (the deck it is on) and the position of the cabin (is it in the centre of the ship or towards the front or back of the ship) and also its features (is it with or without window or does it have a balcony). Children’s Cruise Only Fares - for children aged between 2 and 17 years are shown in the relevant price grid. These fares apply to up to two children sharing a cabin with two adults.
Extend Your Stay You may wish to extend your holiday with an optional hotel stay before or after your cruise. Please ask your travel agent for further information and quotations. Hotel ratings are based on the country’s own official rating schemes. Hotels are subject to change and if your choice of hotel becomes unavailable, Costa reserves the right to replace it with an alternative of the same category. If we are unable to confirm your hotel request, Costa will offer the best available alternative. The designated hotel will be listed on your travel documents, dispatched three weeks before departure after final payment has been received.
International Host Programme Costa wants your cruise to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience, so every cruise features a host or hostess dedicated to the needs of our English, French, German, Italian and Spanish speaking guests from around the world. Japanese, Korean and Chinese speaking hosts/hostesses are only on board selected departures of selected ships. Your host or hostess is there to help you make the most of every part of your Costa cruise. Should you need assistance at any time during your cruise you can contact the host/hostess. |

| | | | What to wear - During the day, the emphasis is purely casual with shorts, sportswear, swimwear – or whatever you feel most comfortable in. It is worth noting that while guests can wear long shorts in the main restaurants and lounges for breakfast and lunch, swimwear is not allowed – and neither are bare feet. Passengers don’t have to worry about strict dress codes for the evening. The daily cruise programme will state whether the style is casual or informal. Each cruise will also include at least one gala evening – a chance for you to dress up.
Excursions ashore – Casual and comfortable are the words to remember here, especially if you are likely to be walking long distances. In hot climates, sun cream is vital, along with sunglasses. And if your tour involves religious sites, remember to dress modestly.
In the Gym – Make sure you are suitably kitted out with appropriate gym clothing and most importantly, trainers (with non-marking soles). Guests who do not dress accordingly will be refused entry for health and safety reasons.
On the beach – Sun cream, sunglasses and your swimming costumes are a must if you want to stretch out on the sands, but don’t worry about packing your own beach towel. We will provide them for trips ashore to the beach and on excursions. There are also plenty of towels on the sun decks, by the swimming pools and at the showers in the gym. |

| | | | We recommend one piece of baggage per person. We also remind you that the following items are strictly prohibited: arms and munitions, explosives, fireworks and flares, compressed or liquefied gas (flammable, non-flammable, refrigerants, irritants and toxic gases) such as camping gas, flare launchers, starter pistols, infectious or toxic substances, corrosive substances, radioactive substances and any sharp objects that could be used as weapons.
Tag - The coloured Costa Cruises tag supplied with your travel documents, stating your name and cabin number must be attached to the handle of your baggage before you arrive at the port of embarkation. Your baggage will be left at the baggage drop when you arrive at the port and then delivered directly to your cabin.
Hand baggage – Medicines and spectacles MUST be carried in your hand baggage. We also recommend that valuables, photographic equipment and fragile items should be carried in your hand baggage.
Air transport – We invite you to consider the current rules regarding baggage allowance, in particular regarding the weight. Should you exceed this limit you will be required to pay an extra charge at the airport. The airline and the passenger shall be responsible for all baggage. Costa Cruises shall not be held responsible for any damage or loss while the baggage is in the care of the airline. For some fly-cruise combinations, baggage will be transferred directly from the airport of arrival to your ship cabin.
Baggage insurance – Your baggage should be covered by travel insurance to the value of your personal effects. In the event of delay, loss or damage you will need to make a claim against your travel insurance. Costa Cruises’ responsibility for baggage is limited by International Conventions. See booking conditions.
Bringing Food & Drink on board - Please note that in line with Company Health and Safety standards for Guests and Crew Members, it is strictly forbidden to bring any kind of drink or food on board in hand or cabin luggage. Personal care products (such as shampoo, suntan lotion, etc.), baby care products, products certified by a doctor and liquid medicines are not subject to this rule. Any food or drink, including items purchased during excursions and visits during stopovers, will not be admitted on board. Any local produce purchased will be held in store on board the ship and returned to guests at the end of the cruise. |
